The votes are in at the state Capitol, and Centre County certainly will have clout once the new Legislature comes together in January.
Sen. Jake Corman again will serve as Senate Appropriations Committee chairman, a powerful position indeed. It should be even more powerful next year with Republican Gov.-elect Tom Corbett calling the shots.
New in the leadership level is Rep. Mike Hanna, elected as whip, the No. 2 position with the House Democrats. Hanna gets a chance to influence policy in his caucus, now in the minority.
This makes two Centre Countians in leadership positions in Harrisburg, an impressive showing indeed.
Congratulations to Corman and Hanna. The heavy lifting begins soon.
