I'm happy to share that the Pennsylvania Broken Budgets project on state legislative staffing is a finalist for the Associated Press Managing Editors Innovator of the Year contest.
The project, which appeared in papers across Pennsylvania in April, was produced by 33 papers, including the CDT, working with the Associated Press. It was honored for ground-breaking collaboration on a major issue.
It is the biggest statewide spinoff to date of the ongoing AP-APME Broken Budgets initiative reporting on the fiscal challenges in governments across the country.
Here's the announcement. I'll share a bit more in print on Saturday in my column.
Never miss a local story.
The Innovator of the Year will be chosen among three finalists by editors who attend the APME conference in Denver in September.
