Teens hurt in ATV crash

Two teens from the Philipsburg area were seriously injured Sunday afternoon in an ATV crash in Rush Township, state police at Philipsburg said.

At about 1:20 p.m., a 16-year-old girl of West Decatur and a 15-year-old girl of Lanse were traveling on Coaldale Road on a Yamaha Big Bear ATV at a high rate of speed, according to police. They attempted to turn left onto Lochlomond Road. Instead, they lost control and crashed into a tree. Neither teen wore a helmet, police said.

The operator of the ATV, the 16-year-old girl, was lifeflighted to the Altoona Trauma Center and the passenger was taken to Clearfield Area Hospital, police said.
