'Pay it Forward' campaign in Centre County

All over Pennsylvania, newspaper readers are coming up with ideas for good deeds -- the kind that will help their neighbors and friends.

Dozens of residents in many communities are participating, and they’re competing for money from their hometown newspaper to carry out their good deed.

It’s all part of a statewide campaign called “Pay it Forward,” and it is happening now at the Centre Daily Times.

We have joined with 69 other PA newspapers in featuring this campaign, with rules that are quite simple: Tell us all about an innovative plan to complete an act of kindness and receive $500 to apply to the task. Do you want to help a neighbor, an organization or a school? Do you want to help improve the community in some way?

Tell us about it and you might win $500 to carry it out.

Let us know by sending a note explaining your idea to Ed Stoddard, CDT market development manager.

You can e-mail it to estoddar@centredaily.com or mail it to:

Pay It Forward Challenge,

Centre Daily Times,

attn: Ed Stoddard,

3400 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801.

Please put "Pay It Forward Challenge" in the subject line of your email if you choose to contact Ed by that method.

Your idea is due by May 7, and a panel of judges including CDT staffers and community members will choose the best one.
