closeWe asked our young readers to draw their moms in a way that shows why their mothers are special.
And they responded, big time.
They sent us drawings of moms in dresses, holding flowers. Moms with flowing hair and big smiles. Some moms were more abstract — like the one drawn by 2-year-old Callie Kauffman, of Port Matilda, that is big on color, but without much form.
Some children tried to put words to the pictures to express why their mom is the best.
"Mommy, you are special you take me to the library all Mondays," wrote Krupa Hedge, 5, of State College.
"Mommy gives me lots of love," wrote Trent Dinant, 5, of State College.
"My mom is beautiful inside and outside, that's why she is special," wrote Denaya Poston, 7, of Boalsburg.
