closeThese local Memorial Day services are planned for today.
•Graysville Cemetery Association will hold a service at 10:30 a.m. in Graysville Cemetery, nine miles west of Pine Grove Mills on state Route 45, on the hill behind the Upper Spruce Creek Presbyterian Church. U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Amy Gilliland, of Warriors Mark, will be the featured speaker.
•American Legion Post 33 and VFW Post 1600, of Bellefonte, will hold the following services:
10 a.m., Catholic Cemetery, 134 E Bishop St., Bellefonte; 10:15 a.m., Union Cemetery, Howard Street, Bellefonte; 11 a.m., on the steps of the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte, with state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff, R-Bellefonte, as speaker.
•Smith-Pletcher American Legion Post 779 will hold a service at 6 p.m. at the Lutheran Reform Cemetery on Church Street in Centre Hall (guest speaker, Hobart Kistler). Refreshments to follow at Legion post.
•Boalsburg Memorial Day Service. The annual Walk from Diamond to Cemetery, re-creating the original Memorial Day observance, will take place at 5:45 p.m., with a service at 6 p.m.
The service will include “Boalsburg: 200 Years of Community and a Vision for the Future” by Christopher Lee, marking Boalsburg’s bicentennial, and a reading of a winning student essay.
