Man flown to hospital after single-car crash
One person was taken by helicopter from the scene of a single- car crash on state Route 45, about one-tenth of a mile east of Fiedler Road in Haines Township on Sunday morning, state police at Rockview reported.
Police said Douglas Wingard, 40, of Woodward, was flown from the scene. He was listed in critical condition Monday at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
According to police, Wingard was traveling east on Route 45 in a 2004 Buick Rendezvous at 2:40 a.m. when he overcorrected and lost control of the car. The Buick traveled partially off the road in a slight left curve, then slid broadside across the road and struck an embankment.
After impact, the car rolled several times, coming to a stop on its roof. Wingard was ejected from the vehicle.
State police were assisted at the scene by Penns Valley EMS and Gregg Township and Millheim fire companies.
Police seek information on paintball incident
State police at Rockview are seeking information on who fired paintballs at several structures at the Blanchard Little League fields in Liberty Township.
The incident, being investigated as criminal mischief, occurred sometime Saturday, police said. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 355-7545.
One injured in crash on U.S. Route 220
One driver suffered a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash Friday on U.S. Route 220, at the Interstate 80 interchange in Boggs Township, state police at Rockview reported.
According to police, Dennis A. Peters, 57, of Mifflinburg, failed to see a car driven by Rebecca Hoy, 24, of Bellefonte, as he turned left onto the I-80 eastbound ramp. Hoy attempted to avoid the crash but struck the passenger side of Peters’ Chevrolet 1500 HD with her Pontiac Grand Am.
Hoy suffered a minor arm injury, police said. She was cited for expired registration and inspection. Peters was cited for vehicle turning left, police said.
Police were assisted at the scene by Milesburg Fire Company.
Woman charged with simple assault
A State College woman was charged with simple assault after an argument at Brownie’s Mountain Tavern in Potter Township turned physical Saturday night, police said.
At 9:58 p.m., police said Donna L. Mills, 46, was arguing with a 48-year-old man when she began to slap and bite him. Several bites broke the skin, others resulted in bruising, police said.
Local establishments issued citations
The state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement recently issued citations against several businesses in Centre County for liquor law and games of chance violations. The business cited are:
•The Cell Block, 420 E. College Ave., in State College, charged with furnishing alcohol to two minors — a 19-year-old man and 20-year-old man — on April 24.
•The Autoport, 1405 S. Atherton St., State College, charged with furnishing alcohol between 2 and 11 a.m. April 26.
•Keystone Post No. 444 Inc., P.O. Box 301, Millheim, charged with awarding more than $5,000 in cash or merchandise in a week during various weeks between Feb. 16 and April 5.
•Club No. 813 Inc., 1171 Clarence Road, Clarence, charged with not maintaining complete records for the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act for the two years before April 17.
Charges are brought before an administrative law judge, who has the authority to impose fines and license suspension, depending on the severity of the charges.
