closeThe state’s Classrooms for the Future grant program, which was created to jump-start districts’ use of technology, is in jeopardy. Gov. Ed Rendell’s proposed budget includes funding for it, while the Senate Republicans’ budget does not.
Classroom for the Future funding is one of several issues school district officials don’t expect to be resolved until at least mid-July, after districts have already passed budgets.
According to the state Department of Education, the impact on Centre County schools is as follows*:
Bald Eagle Area: $316,800
Bellefonte: $500,000 to $600,000
State College: $800,000
Penns Valley: $491,000
Philipsburg-Osceola: $300,000
