closeLori E. Bechdel, of Blanchard, a recent Lycoming College graduate, was recently inducted into the Beta Beta Beta biology honor society. Beta Beta Beta is an honor and professional society for students who excel in the field of biological science.
Bechdel, a graduate of Central Mountain High School, was a biology major at Lycoming.
Kate E. Ascah, a daughter of Robert and Jill Ascah, of State College, was honored as student marshal for the Penn State College of Education’s spring commencement.
She led the procession of graduates at the college’s baccalaureate ceremony May 16 in Eisenhower Auditorium.
Ascah was inducted into the Pi Lambda Theta National Education Honor Society. She also is a member of Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Fraternity.
A Schreyer Scholar, Ascah based her honors thesis on a system she developed for creating memory aids to promote independence for adults who have Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease.
A graduate of State College Area High School, Ascah hopes to secure a teaching position next academic year.
