closeSpecial Olympics bowl-a-thon Sunday
Centre County Special Olympics will host its annual Bowl-a-Thon from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Northland Bowl, 1521 Martin St., State College.
All bowlers, including Special Olympics athletes, are asked to collect pledges for their participation in the Bowl-a-Thon. Last year, more than $6,500 was raised through athlete pledges; this year’s goal is $9,000.
Community members are encouraged to gather teams of four to participate in the Bowl-a-Thon. Each team of four is asked to raise a minimum of $200, or $50 for individual bowlers.
There will be pizza, refreshments, prizes and awards for participating bowlers, as well as the chance to help Centre County Special Olympics, whose athletes compete in practices and events throughout the year, and travel around the nation and the globe to compete against other Special Olympics athletes.
