Police identify woman struck by snow plow

The woman struck by a plow truck while walking on state Route 550 on Feb. 10 has been identified by state police using photos from databases in Arizona, where they believe she is from.

Pauline C. Young, 44, of Phoenix, Ariz., also known as Sharline Steward, has not regained consciousness since the crash in Spring Township, State Police Trooper Thomas A. Hertlein said Tuesday. She is listed in stable condition at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh.

Young was initially listed in critical condition after being rush to Mount Nittany Medical Center following the 6:30 p.m. crash, in which she was struck by a state Department of Transportation plow truck and thrown a short distance.

It took police more than a week to figure out who she was by going through databases and examining numerous photographs, Hertlein said. No next of kin has yet contacted state police at Rockview.

Anyone who knows Young should contact state police at Rockview at 355-7545.
