Philipsburg pedestrian injured in crash

A Philipsburg man suffered major injury when he stepped onto Presqueisle Street from between two parked cars about 3 p.m. Tuesday and was struck by a car.

State police at Philipsburg said Michael W. Bennett, 50, suffered major injuries and was taken to Altoona Hospital by helicopter. A spokesperson at Altoona Hospital this morning said they had no information on Bennett.

The Subaru Legacy that struck Bennett was driven by Timothy J. Renner, 32, of Philipsburg. He was not injured in the crash, and he was not cited with any violations. Police said in their report that the primary violation involved in the crash was Bennett crossing at a point other than a crosswalk.
