COLLEGE TOWNSHIP — A man was injured Friday night when the pickup truck he was driving smashed into a tree along East College Avenue, apparently after trying to avoid a deer that was struck by another car.
The injured man, who was not identified by press time, was taken from the scene by ambulance after the crash happened at about 8:30 p.m.
He was apparently driving westbound on East College Avenue at about the same time that a sedan heading eastbound struck and killed a buck that was on the roadway.
The injured man’s pickup ended up smashed front-on against a tree on the north side of the road, and he was extricated from the front seat by emergency medical service personnel.
East College Avenue was closed in both directions for at least an hour.
