Sarah Palin pays brief visit to Centre County

Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin made an unannounced visit to Way's Fruit Farm during the farm's annual fall festival today, surprising fellow festival-goers.

  • Your turn: Talk about presidential campaign
  • Is the McCain-Palin ticket a winner?

Palin drove up on the John McCain "Straight Talk Express" bus following a rally this morning in Johnstown. She then flew out of University Park airport and is scheduled to be in Philadelphia this evening to attend a Flyers game.

Her visit was unannounced, and little advance notice was given except to the press and the owners of the farm, located on Route 550 near Port Matilda.

Local Republicans had been pushing for Palin to make an appearance in Centre County this afternoon.

She stayed at Way's Fruit Farm for about 15 minutes, talking with other visitors as one of Palin's daughters picked out a pumpkin. Palin then headed to University Park Airport to continue on to Philadelphia.
