Alcohol poisoning caused student's death

- The Associated Press

The Washington County Coroner says acute alcohol intoxication killed a California University of Pennsylvania student found dead in an off-campus apartment.

Coroner Tim Warco says 19-year-old sophomore William Kiel Bobbitt was drunk when he arrived at the friend's apartment about 1 a.m. May 1 looking for a place to stay.

Those who lived in the apartment discovered Bobbitt dead when they woke up about 7:40 a.m. the same day.

Warco says there are no signs of foul play so he has ruled the death was an accident.

The autopsy results were released Friday after toxicology tests were completed.

The school says Bobbitt, of Greencastle, Franklin County, was a member of the rugby team.
