Phone service disrupted in Shillington area
- The Associated PressSHILLINGTON, Pa. — About 200 Verizon customers in the Shillington area have had phone service disruptions.
Verizon spokeswoman Sharon Shaffer says the problem is a wet underground cable. She says about 40 customers lost service on Wednesday. Shaffer says when workers were fixing that problem, more customers lost service, and Friday's heavy rain complicated matters.
Shaffer says the company has managed to restore service to some customers, but it will be a lengthy process to completely repair the problem.
Shillington is in southern Berks County, about 50 miles west-northwest of Philadelphia.
