Marijuana has been proven since Phoenician times to have healing properties and make you feel good. I remain baffled why opiates like oxycontin and methadone remain in the American pharmacopoeia, while this benign plant has struggled to be returned to its former status.
I am speaking specifically about the plant being used as specified in Senate Bill 1182. When passed, Pennsylvania will join 23 other states and the District of Columbia that have exercised states’ rights to afford their doctors the option of prescribing it.
The federal government has agreed this is a state matter. In other parts of the world patients are being effectively weaned off anti-depressants, pain and blood pressure medications to name a sampling of why it’s important. It is the only remedy for certain conditions.
Failure to adjust to new information can be fatal. Imagine the 16th century struggle to convince the church Earth wasn’t the center of the universe. Science seeks knowledge. Turning away from the truth proves what?
There will be a rally at 10 a.m. on Sept. 15 on the Capitol steps Harrisburg hosted by Sens. Leach and Folmer allowing us to express our disapproval of the unnecessary delays in passing this bill. I’m told the bill can be passed in six days, and the legislature will have 12 session days left before year’s end. They want to wrap it up before election. If this is important to you please show up and say so.
