I was thrilled to learn recently that former U.S. Rep. Adm. Joe Sestak is running for the U.S. Senate in 2016.
Sen. Pat Toomey’s irresponsible actions and those of other Republican senators have resulted in the shutting down of the U.S. government. Toomey has been blocking bipartisan efforts in negotiations that would have allowed us to reach a deal through compromise (a rather novel idea).
I am a veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. It is a shame that veterans have been suffering, losing benefits, because of the shutdown. Toomey needs to rethink his position on delaying the Affordable Care Act, because it is law. Does Toomey really take the position to deny Americans health care?
These low-income Americans need help. They either buy insurance (which they really can’t afford) or deny their families food for their tables.
I urge Toomey to have a heart and some compassion for the people without health care. Sestak would make a great senator. My wife and I have had the pleasure of meeting and talking to the admiral, who is an honest man and a man of great integrity. He would be a great asset to the U.S. Senate and has our votes.
