Joe Paterno was canonized by public acclamation and I must confess that I didn’t believe that being a great football coach and a credit to his employer and family really qualified him for heavenly honors.
But since his death, I am beginning to understand why they raised a statue in his honor.
It must have been because he spent so many years working with a group of overage adolescents who couldn’t plan a two-car funeral. It is time these folks realized how foolish they look to the rest of the world, that they are giving higher education a bad name and it is time to just send Brother Davy up in the bell tower of Old Main and let the white smoke announce to the faithful that they have a new coach.
All hail to the blue and white.
