Joel Myers’ proposal for another Joe Paterno statue has me confused.
Let me see if I understand this. Myers was one of those anxious to remove the statue at Beaver Stadium because of Paterno’s alleged involvement in the Sandusky cover-up.
Now Myers apparently doesn’t have a problem with honoring Paterno with a new statue on the other side of campus? What changed? How can Paterno be a scoundrel on one hand yet worthy of high honors a mile away?
I suggest that proposals regarding statues be put on hold until all legal proceedings come to an end. Then and only then should a decision be made on this subject.
It may come to pass that returning the original statue to its home next to Beaver Stadium may be all that is necessary.
