It’s no surprise that my husband and I support additional funding for State College schools; our children are students.
But people without children in public schools here may wonder why they should support the school tax referendum in the May 20 primary election.
The answer is simple: Great schools are great for everyone.
Homeowners benefit. Property values are dramatically affected by the quality of a community’s school system.
Business benefits. Desirable schools play a big role in recruitment efforts, and for those hiring young workers just after high school, preparation of that labor pool can make or break their success.
When teens stay in school and do well, crime remains low. Towns prosper when schools are great, and quality of life increases.
As a community, education of our youth is the single-most important investment we can make. As the older generation, it is also our moral obligation.
Vote “yes” to the State High referendum.
