I encourage others to read my good friend Bob Potter’s letter very carefully (“There’s no debate,” CDT Saturday).
It is not a letter adding to the compelling case for climate change (previously known as global “warming”). Rather, it is a blatant attempt to bully a general-circulation newspaper into producing content approved by Potter.
In my 40-plus years in this community I have become accustomed to the code words of my progressive friends when they seek to cancel debate.
To wit: “Everybody knows”; “Any thinking person would agree”; “It is obvious to any educated person”; and so on.
When I was in college in the ’60s, we used to say, “Scratch a Marxist and you find a policeman.”
Now we say, “Scratch a progressive and you find a censor.”
In a time when most media outlets present only one point of view, I appreciate reading diametrically opposed positions no matter how radical.
We readers can decide for ourselves. I applaud the CDT.
