I read with interest Chris Rosenblum’s May 27 article on the Boalsburg Memorial Day service.
I noticed that all the participants — Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, politicians, the women laying the wreaths, the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast, the pastor — received attention, except for one, The State College Choral Society, directed by Russell Shelley.
The members of the choral society sang for the ceremony on four occasions, both alone and with the band and audience. We rehearsed for the ceremony, marched in the procession, sat directly behind the podium speakers and sang our hearts out.
To be sure, we didn’t do it for the recognition, but it would have been nice to have been mentioned in the article, along with all the other participants.
