Education is one of the most important reasons for the success of the noble experiment we call the United States of America.
Free public schools and access to high-quality public colleges and universities have from the very beginnings of our nation been one of the most important, if not the single most important reason for our astounding climb to world leadership and domination.
It is almost unfathomable to think that any elected official would seek to do away with tax-supported universal public education.
Yet that is the position Rep. Glenn Thompson has recently espoused.
Kerith Strano Taylor, who is running against Thompson, is a strong supporter of education because she understands that, in this time of rapid economic growth in countries such as China, India and Brazil to mention only the largest, the only way we can maintain our place in the world is to place even more emphasis on education, not less.
Strano Taylor is a graduate of one of our finest public universities, Penn State. I strongly urge the voters of the 5th District to vote for her Nov. 4.
