Immigration is a key issue facing our community.
Many of us came here or were born here because we have family that immigrated to this great country.
So the issue that’s before us now is how do we deal with immigration and what it is.
We were known as the country that took everybody in but we seem to be bursting at the seams. We are not handling it well.
We want to have people come into this country but where do we need to draw the lines? Where are their lines and how are we going to draw them?
We want to invite people to come in but do we have to start making a decision on what type of people we want to come into this country? Is that to our benefit? Do we want people here who basically don’t want to work? Do we want to let people into this country because they really want to better themselves living the American Dream, being productive and great providers in the community, those willing to give back?
Where should we go with it? Should we trash it? Do we close our borders? Or should we reframe it? Should we look at what it has been and what it needs to be so that it can work for all of us?
