According to the Nov. 24 CDT, U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Howard Township, continues to vote to enrich corporations at the expense of the public interest.
Not only did he vote for the Keystone XL pipeline, he voted to make sure that the pipeline’s owner, TransCanada Corp., does not have to pay into a trust fund to clean up oil spills.
This protects the corporation and ensures that if there’s a spill, the public will have to foot the bill for cleaning up the mess.
Later, Thompson voted for HR 1422, which allows corporate representatives to serve on the Science Advisory Board of the Environmental Protection Agency, even if they have a conflict of interest.
Who does he really work for — corporations or the people of this district?
