OK, let’s have a show of hands of all who are sick and tired of public officials — county, state or federal — who lack moral courage or refuse to do the right thing, no matter how difficult.
The Centre County judicial system seems to be awash with members only concerned with covering their own behinds, and the two senior county commissioners claimed they were unaware of any problems in the county District Attorney’s Office.
How could they conduct more than 30 exit interviews from the District Attorney’s Office and not realize there was something amiss?
Their reaction reminded me of Louie, the police captain in the movie “Casablanca,” when he declared that he was “Shocked, shocked’ to find gambling in Rick’s Café Americain, as an employee handed him his winnings.
The people of Centre County deserve better. We need more people with the moral courage to stand up and do the right thing, no matter what the cost.
Painfully, here in central Pennsylvania, we have seen what happens when people turn their backs and pretend that they just don’t see.
