AAUW State College has a lot to be grateful for these days. In the midst of celebrating our centennial and our mission to advance equity for women and girls, we are surrounded by a great feeling of support and caring in our community.
We are sharing our 100-year history through an “Archives Roadshow” — a traveling exhibit of photographs — through displays in public buildings. The level of interest in helping us has been amazing. We are exceptionally pleased by the cooperation from the following groups who agreed to host the roadshow exhibits, large or small: Centre County Pennsylvania Room and Historical Museum, Centre Furnace Mansion, Penn State HUB-Robeson Center, Penn State Pattee-Paterno Library, Schlow Centre Region Library, and Happy Valley Optical on South Allen Street. They all spared space for us, and even helped us promote the exhibits. Thank you, all!
Our centennial year continues and we have many more activities and events planned. HerStory: An Intergenerational Discussion Honoring Every Woman’s Journey is scheduled for Tuesday; the Negotiating Your Worth in Light of the Gender Gap workshop takes place on April 21; and our annual Used Book Sale will be at the Ag Arena May 14-17. A full exhibit of our history continues at Happy Valley Optical through mid-May, and “Centennial boards” are on display this spring at Schlow library and Centre Furnace Mansion.
