The University at Buffalo’s Colby Way earned Mid-American Conference East Defensive Player of the Week honors after a dominant performance in a 33-0 win over Western Michigan on Saturday.
Way, a State College graduate, registered three solo sacks and four total tackles in the rout. In the first quarter he had two sacks, driving Western Michigan back from the Buffalo 19 to beyond field goal range. He added another sack in the third quarter, this one for a 15-yard loss that forced Western Michigan to punt. Way now has 15 career sacks.
For the season he has 22 tackles, 10 solo, 7 1/2 tackles for losses of 46 yards, five sacks, one quarterback hurry and one blocked kick.
Buffalo is 4-2, having won four straight games after losing to Ohio State and Baylor to start the year.
