A pair of former Centre County athletes reached collegiate career milestones last week.
At Mansfield, Jena Matter scored her 1,000th career point when she scored 17 in a 67-60 loss to Kutztown. Matter, a Bellefonte graduate, has a 14.6 points-per-game scoring average to go with an 8.2 rebound average, 36 steals, 36 assists and four blocks. Mansfield is 0-22.
State College alum Kate McDonald hauled down her 1,000th career rebound, making her only the third Juniata athlete, male or female, to have 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. For the season, she is averaging 16.2 points and has 222 rebounds, 73 assists, 79 steals and 22 blocked shots. Juniata is 10-11.
Brian Scholly (State College, Juniata) averages 12.6 points per game. He has 113 rebounds, 37 assists, eight steals and five blocks. Juniata is 13-8.
Dennis Fisher (BEA, Juniata) has a 1.6 scoring average, 23 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and six blocks.
Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) averages 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. She also has 24 assists and 15 steals. Greensburg is 12-9.
Taylor Allison (State College, St. Francis) has four rebounds, two assists, a block, a steal and a 1.2 scoring average. St. Francis is 13-6.
Jenna Altomare (State College, Kutztown) has a 5.4 scoring average, 1.3 rebound average, 13 assists and 13 steals. Kutztown is 7-14.
Kyle Kanaskie (State College, Truman State) averages 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds to go with 47 assists and 15 steals. Truman State is 17-4.
Kaitlyn Miller (BEA, PSU-Fayette) scored six points and had 15 rebounds, three assists, a steal and two blocks in a 77-49 win over PSU-DuBois. She averages 11.3 points, 1.7 blocks, 7.2 rebounds and 0.6 steals. Fayette is 12-8.
Mary Pillot (BEA, PSU-DuBois) had four points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal in the loss to PSU-Fayette. Against PSU-Allegheny she had nine points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Maddie Bastress (Penns Valley, Washington & Jefferson) has eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and 0.7 points in seven games. W&J is 14-7.
Leo Wortman (Bellefonte, Stevens Tech) scored an 8-2 decision and a 19-second pin to help Stevens Tech earn two wins Saturday, 45-3 over Washington and Lee, and 42-9 against Gettysburg. Stevens is 10-7 and 5-2 in the Centennial Conference.
Sam Eaton (State College, Dickinson) placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2 minutes, 17.24 seconds and swam on the winning 400 medley relay team that posted a winning time of 3:35.28 against Swarthmore.
Blake Gregory (State College, East Carolina) is 3-0 in singles. ECU is 6-1.
Chris Borden (State College, James Madison) is 2-0 in doubles. JMU is 2-1.
