For the second time this season, Kate McDonald has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Juniata posted a pair of wins, beating Susquehanna 72-69 and Drew 51-48 while McDonald averaged 19.5 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles in the two games.
For the season the State College graduate has 277 rebounds, 95 assists, 94 steals and 24 blocks while averaging 15.7 points per game. She is now second in points, rebounds and steals in Juniata history. She also leads the Landmark Conference in steals, rebounds and double-doubles.
The Eagles (14-12) lost to Scranton 74-53 in the conference semifinals. Unless Juniata earns a bid to the ECAC tournament, McDonald played her final game for the Eagles, posting her 17th double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
Brian Scholly (State College, Juniata) has 135 rebounds, 46 assists, 10 steals, seven blocks and a 12.8 scoring average. Juniata is 15-10.
Dennis Fisher (Bald Eagle Area, Juniata) has 24 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, seven blocks and a 1.8 scoring average.
Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) finished the year with 60 rebounds, 37 assists, 17 steals and 4.5 points per game. Greensburg is 14-12.
Taylor Allison (State College, St. Francis) has nine rebounds, five assists, a steal, a block and a 0.9 scoring average. St. Francis is 12-16.
Kyle Kanaskie (State College, Truman State) averages 5.9 points per game, has 26 rebounds, and averages 2.1 assists and 0.6 steals. Truman State is 20-7.
Maddie Bastress (Penns Valley, Washington & Jefferson) averages 1.0 points per game and has 15 rebounds, six assists, three steals and a block. W&J is 20-8.
Suzanne Gingher (State College, James Madison) placed third in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.03 seconds and ninth in the 100 freestyle in 50.51 in the Colonial Athletic Association championships. She also anchored the 200 and 400 freestyle, and 200 and 400 medley relays relay teams to victories.
Alex Hillsley (State College, Delaware) placed 14th in the 200 backstroke in 1:49.75 at the Colonial Athletic Association championships.
Indoor track & field
Brice Beals (BEA, Lock Haven) finished third in the 35-pound weight throw in the PSAC Indoor Championships with a throw of 59 feet, 8 1/4 inches. He is now second on the all-time list in the event at Lock Haven.
Paul Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) placed second in the 5,000 meters in the Landmark Conference Championships in 15:28.95.
John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) took third in the 5,000 in 15:30.69. Susquehanna took second in the team standings.
Seth Tressler (Bellefonte, Mansfield) is hitting .240 with five runs scored, six hits, a double and four RBIs. Mansfield is 5-2.
Justin Taylor (BEA, California of Pa.) is 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA. In 14 innings he has given up 10 hits, five runs, all earned, walked two and struck out seven. Cal is 2-3.
Brandon Myers (Philipsburg-Osceola, Slippery Rock) is hitting .200. He’s 1-for-5 with an RBI. Slippery Rock is 4-3.
Luke Curtis (P-O, Pitt) has pitched one inning and has given up a hit, an earned run, walked one and struck out two for a 9.00 ERA. Pitt is 4-2.
Drew Bryan (P-O, VMI) is hitting .375 with four runs scored, three hits, one being a double. VMI is 7-3.
