Jon Romine pitched a complete game win for Clarence as it topped Bellefonte 7-5 on Saturday in American Legion action.
Romine tallied 13 strikeouts in the victory.
Clarence used a four run third inning to pick up the win as both teams got all of scoring down early. Tanner Light had two hits and two RBIs to lead Clarence.
The Bandits led 5-3 going into the bottom of the third inning and then relinquished the lead. Dan Roan led Bellefonte with three hits and Zach Williams had two RBIs.
State College falls to DuBois
State College dropped its American Legion season opener 7-4 to DuBois on Saturday.
State College was missing seven players due to the high school’s graduation ceremony. The team trailed DuBois 4-0 after the first inning.
Tyler Hall went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI to lead State College.
Centre County League
Peppers cruise past Mounties
Pleasant Gap jumped out to a six-run lead and never looked back in its 12-2 rout of Clarence in six innings of a Centre County League matchup on Saturday at the Shaner Complex.
The Peppers scored in the first three frames with a four-run first innning being the highlight. They went on to close out the win with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Greg Reeder and Cory Cunningham led the way for Pleasant Gap with three hits each.
The Mounties tallied their two runs by scoring a run in each the first and second innings. Ryan MacNamara led Clarence with two hits while Dillon Schall had an RBI.
Pirates hand Hawks second loss of season
Philipsburg didn’t have an extra base hit in the game but came out on top 6-4 over Howard on Saturday in a Centre County League matchup at the Shaner Complex.
Parker Watson got the win on the mound for the Pirates. Watson also helped his cause with two RBIs.
Scott Zuback led the Hawks (5-2) with 3 singles and Kyle Woomer had two RBIs.
Braves handle Ducks
Spring Mills scored in the first four innings in its rout of Lemont 17-8 on Saturday in Centre County League action at the Shaner Complex.
Micah Shrenkel and Mike Vogt led the Braves with two RBIs a piece. Tyler Myers led Spring Mills with four hits.
Logan Madill hit a two-run home run to lead the Ducks in RBIs. Jason Kosta and Ethan Kline each had two hits a piece for Lemont.
