Brian Pelka pitched a complete game, striking out seven to lead Howard to a 6-5 win over Blanchard on Wednesday.
Howard (13-6) scored two runs in the first inning and three in the third to take a 5-0 lead. Bones Fisher and Clay Smith each had RBI singles. Blanchard (3-15) scored three runs in the fourth, highlighted by Mike Vonada’s two-run triple, to cut into the deficit. Vonada added an RBI double in a two-run sixth inning, but Blanchard couldn’t complete the comeback.
Scott Zuback and Evan Gettig each doubled for Howard.
Spring Mills 6, Clarence 2

Spring Mills scored in each of the first three innings en route to a win over Clarence.
Cody Young got the Braves (9-11) started with a solo home run while Mike Vogt, Micah Schrenkel and Brady Waltz turned in multiple hits for Spring Mills. Rich Auman pitched seven strong innings and fanned five Mountie hitters to earn the win.
Derek Jabco led Clarence with a triple and a single while Justin Koleno also notched two hits for the Mounties.
Philipsburg 5, Lemont 0
The Pirates and Ducks required extra innings in a pitchers’ dual in which Philipsburg eventually prevailed.
Philipsburg pitcher Tyler Golden and Lemont hurler Clint Hicks combined on a shutout into the eighth where the Pirate offense came alive. Jeremy Potter recorded the game-winning RBI for Philipsburg.
Cody Swope led lemont with a triple while Brandon Myers hit a late home run for Philipsburg.
