Dan Roan tossed a six-hitter as fifth-seeded Pleasant Gap knocked off fourth-seeded Spring Mills 7-3 in the opening round of the playoffs on Sunday.
Both teams were 11-13 in the regular season. The Peppers can advance with a triumph at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Governor’s Park in Bellefonte.
Trailing 1-0, Pleasant Gap took the lead for good on Greg Reeder’s two-run double in the second. The Peppers extended the lead with four more runs in the fourth. Tyler Lalli cracked a two-run double and Steven Alterio belted a RBI double to highlight the outburst.
Roan held the Braves to Kevin Conklin’s first-inning RBI groundout before surrendering two runs in the sixth on an error and a walk. Roan finished with four strikeouts.

Alterio’s three hits paced the Peppers. Cory Cunningham, Lalli and Wyatt Belinda added two each. Jordan Schainholz had a triple and single for Spring Mills.
