Justin Taylor drove in four runs in a 10-run fourth inning as Clarence pounded Pleasant Gap 16-3 in five innings in Game 1 of the best-of-five Centre County Baseball League semifinals on Monday.
Led by three hits each from Derek Jabco and Brian Kochik, the Mounties ripped 17 hits in just four at-bats. Six of the nine starters had at least two hits.
The Peppers, paced by Tyler Lalli’s RBI single, scored twice in the third to take a 2-1 lead, but the Clarence hitters took over from there. The Mounties scored five runs in the bottom of the inning, then exploded for 10 in the fourth. Taylor had a single and a double in the huge outburst.
Jabco had two of Clarence’s eight doubles. Ryan MacNamara, Hunter Guenot (3 RBIs), Justin Koleno and Taylor had two hits each.
