Parker Watson tossed an eight-hitter and belted a home run as top-seeded Philipsburg completed a three-game sweep of Blanchard with a 9-2 romp in the Centre County Baseball League playoffs on Thursday.
The Spike Island Pirates await the winner of the best-of-five series between Clarence and Pleasant Gap in the championship round. The Mounties lead that series 2-1.
Philipsburg scored three runs in the first and never trailed in Game 3 against the Bees. The Pirates pounded out 13 hits in the contest.
Watson struck out 10 and walked four in the triumph. Lance Thompson cracked a two-run homer in the fifth and Watson followed with his solo shot.

Jeremy Potter, AJ Robinson, Tyler Good, Thompson and Watson each had two hits for Philipsburg. The Pirates belted six doubles in the contest.
Larry Bechdel had two hits for Bees. Kyle Miller singled home both Blanchard runs in the third inning.
Mounties get lead
Justin Koleno smashed a two-run double to give Clarence the lead and Brian Kochil got out of a jam in the top of the seventh as the Mounties topped Pleasant Gap 4-2 to tale a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five playoff series.
Clarence can clinch the series with a win at 2 p.m. Sunday against the Peppers at Governor’s Park in Bellefonte.
Pleasant Gap led 2-0 through four innings. Greg Reeder’s RBI single drove in Trey Burger in the third and Wyatt Belinda doubled and scored on Cory Cunningham’s single in the fourth.
Clarence rallied in the fifth. Hunter Guenot and Justin Taylor led off with singles. Matt Fish smashed a RBI double to left and Koleno followed with his two-run double into the right-center field gap to make the score 3-2.
The Mounties tacked on an insurance run in the sixth. Ryan MacNamara cracked a one-out double and raced home on Guenot’s double to left.
Pleasant Gap put two runners on with two outs in the seventh, but Kochik struck out the dangerous Tyler Lalli to end the game.
Guenot had two of the six hits for the Mounties, who had four doubles. Reeder and Cunningham had two hits each for the Peppers.
