Senior guard Miles Dieffenbach will not play for Penn State when the Nittany Lions take on No. 13 Ohio State at Beaver Stadium on Saturday.
While his teammates warmed up about 45 minutes before kickoff, Dieffenbach looked on in a polo shirt and shorts.
Dieffenbach, who tore his left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in March, has been practicing with his teammates and progressing the past couple of weeks. Head coach James Franklin said Dieffenbach is “getting close” and will be worked into the lineup gradually, with a few series before he will start.
Penn State’s offensive line has not played well with the team captain out. The Nittany Lions are averaging less than 100 yards rushing per game and have allowed 20 sacks at midseason.
Senior safety Ryan Keiser will also miss tonight’s game with an unspecified ailment.
Kickoff for tonight’s game is scheduled for 8:14 p.m.
