Bellefonte graduate Mitchell Port turned back a pair of challengers to his No. 2 national ranking in wrestling at the Eastern Michigan Open over the weekend.
Port, a senior 141-pounder, decisioned No. 10 Zach Horan of Eastern Michigan 2-0 thanks to an escape and riding time.
Then he decisoned No. 4 Steve Dutton of Michigan 5-2, overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the first period with an escape, penalty point and takedown in the second period and riding time as the Fighting Scots upset the eighth-ranked Wolverines 23-18.
Port is now 9-0 and has a career record of 105-15. Edinboro is 3-1.

Michael John (Philipsburg-Osceola, Juniata) finished his season with 76 yards on 21 carries and seven catches for 87 yards. Juniata finished 5-5.
Colton Myers (State College, Juniata) had seven catches for 125 yards and five tackles, three solo.
Colton Rigg (Bellefonte, Juniata) had one carry for three yards and five tackles, three solo.
Kurt Walker (P-O, Shippensburg) closed his season with seven solo tackles and nine assists, 11/2 tackles for loss for minus-8 yards, one sack for minus-5 yards and one quarterback hurry. Shippensburg finished 6-5.
Alex Boumerhi (P-O, Lock Haven) was Lock Haven’s leading scoreer with 39 points. He made 7 of 15 field goals tries with a long of 44 yards and 18 of 19 extra points. He also averaged 58.4 yards on 35 kickoffs. He also had two solo tackles as Lock Haven wrapped up its season with a 2-9 record.
Bernard Smack (State College, Lock Haven) carried once for eight years and caught 46 passes for 501 yards and three touchdowns. He returned 17 kickoffs for 350 yards and had three solo tackles.
Sam Rodgers (State College, Syracuse) remains the starting long snapper for the Orange (3-7).
Jon Cox (State College, Franklin & Marshall) had 16 solo tackles and four assists, 1 1/2 sacks for minus-5 yards, four tackles for loss for minus-8 yards and one pass breakup. F&M had a record of 5-5 after losing to Gettysburg 26-14.
Jordyn Powell (P-O, Misericordia) has played in 14 games and has one assist. Misericordia (19-2-1) defeated Brandeis 2-1 to advance to the NCAA Division III Sweet 16, where it will face The College of New Jersey on Saturday in Williamstown, N.J.
Randi Leath (State College, DePaul) has 123 kills, seven assists, 16 aces, 42 digs and 80 blocks. DePaul has a record of 3-26.
Megan Flick (Bald Eagle Area, Lock Haven) was named to the PSAC East second team. She had nine kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 loss to Shippensburg in the PSAC quarterfinals. For the season she had 264 kills, 70 digs and 55 blocks. A junior, she has 541 kills in her career. Lock Haven finished 20-11.
Suzanne Horner (State College, Iowa State) has 46 kills, 896 assists, 17 aces, 189 digs and 32 blocks. Iowa State is 15-9.
Emma Weakland (State College, Winthrop) has 155 kills, 27 digs and 43 blocks. Winthrop is 19-11.
Kayla Confer (BEA, Lebanon Valley) has 307 kills, four assists, six aces, 66 digs and 41 blocks. She had 14 kills as Lebanon Valley defeated Marymount (Va.) to win the ECAC Division III Southeast Regional title. Lebanon Valley closed its season with a 28-7 record.
Christine Irwin (State College, Juniata) had 47 kills, five assists, 15 aces, 91 digs and eight blocks. Juniata bowed to second-ranked Hope 3-2 after winning the first two sets in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Lady Eagles finished the season with a 28-8 record.
Julia Elkin (State College, Muhlenberg) finisehd her career as a defensive specialist by being named to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team. She finished with one kill, 14 assists, 31 digs and five aces. The Mules (25-8) finished as the Centennial Conference runner-up, losing 3-2 in the finals to Franklin & Marshall.
Mikaela Sloan (State College, Juniata) played in all 21 games and scored one goal. Juniata lost to Wellesley 3-0 in the NCAA Division III Sweet 16 to finish 15-6.
Paul Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) placed 97th in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional meet with a time of 27 minutes, 00.7 seconds over 8 kilometers.
John Crowe (State College, Susquehanna) had a time of 25:50.2 to place 26th in the Mideast meet.
Chloe Schmidt (State College, Illinois) was 129th in the NCAA Midwest Regional in 22:05.3 over 6 kilometers.
Miranda Boatman (Bellefonte, PSU-Behrend) was 271st in the NCAA Division III Regional with a time of 27:23.3. She was the fourth-place finisher among Behrend runners.
Stephen Park (State College, Juniata) placed 13th in the Landmark Conference meet in 27:59.4 and was 79th in the Division III Mideast Regional in 26:55.4.
Marie Gingher (State College, Gettysburg) placed fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:11.89 in a tri-meet with Susquehanna and Messiah. The meet was won by Gettysburg, which is off to a 5-0 starts.
Mary Pillot (BEA, PSU-DuBois) was named to the Penn State-Beaver Tip-Off tournament’s all-tournament team over the weekend. She scored 15 in a loss to Carlow College and 19 against Penn State-Beaver. She also scored 16 in a season-opening loss to Westmoreland Community College. PSU-DuBois is 0-3.
Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds in the Seawolves’ season-opening 57-56 win against Columbia.
