Former Bellefonte standout Gwen Lowery helped the Penn State Behrend women’s swimming team defeat Baldwin-Wallace 115-105 recently.
Lowery won the 200-yard freestyle in 2 minutes, 3.81 seconds, and also swam on the 400 freestyle relay team that posted a winning time of 3:56.09 for the Penn State branch campus in Erie.
Mitchell Port (Bellefonte, Edinboro) was named the Easterm Wrestling League and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting a 3-0 record in Eastern Michigan’s EMU Open. Port is now 9-0 for the season at 141 pounds.

Liz Wortman (Bellefonte, Juniata) has played in all four games and has a 1.5 scoring average and has one rebound. Juniata is 1-3.
Brittany Butterworth (Bald Eagle Area, Pitt-Greensburg) has 10 rebounds, 10 assists, eight steals, one blocked shot and a 6.0 scoring average. Pitt-Greensburg is 2-2.
Jenna Altomare (State College, Kutztown) is averaging 8.5 points per game and 1.0 rebounds. She has two steals. Kutztown is 1-1.
Mary Pillot (BEA, PSU-DuBois) scored seven points in a 67-53 loss to Greater Allegheny. PSU-DuBois is 1-4.
Alexis Frank (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) has two rebounds and four points for Altoona, which is 0-4.
Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) is averaging 7.3 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, and leads the team with nine 3-pointers to go with five assists. The Seawolves are 2-2.
Marie Gingher (State College, Gettysburg) placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.83 and fourth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:37.95 in a 155.5-106.5 loss to 13th-ranked Ursinus. Gettysburg is now 5-1.
Alex Hillsley (State College, Delaware) swam on the freestyle relay teams in the Bucknell Open. The 200 freestyle team placed eighth with a time of 1:25.18 and the 400 freestyle team also placed eighth with a time of 3:08.58.
Shane Dorner (State College, Lafayette) finished the season with 34 tackles, 14 solo, five tackles for loss for minus-13 yards and two sacks for minus-8 yards, one pass breakup and four quarterback hurries. Lafayette finished the season with a 5-6 record, capped by last weekend’s 27-7 win over archrival Lehigh in the 150th meeting between the two schools. The game was played in Yankee Stadium.
Alex Kenney (State College, Massachusetts) has two carries for 22 yards, eight receptions for 174 yards, three kickoff returns for 66 yards, one solo tackle and one assist. UMass is 3-8 and closes its season Saturday when it entertains Buffalo.
Randi Leath (State College, DePaul) closed her first season with 123 kills, 16 aces, 42 digs and 80 blocks, which was second on the team. DePaul finished its season Saturday with a 3-27 record.
Suzanne Horner (State College, Iowa State) continues to direct the Cyclone offense to a .350 hitting average with her 9.62 assists per set while also posting 46 kills, 18 aces, 32 blocks and 190 digs, which is second on the team. Iowa State is 15-10.
Emma Weakland (State College, Winthrop) finished her sophomore season with 174 kills, 44 blocks and 28 digs while making 14 starts. The Eagles (20-12) finished their season with a 3-2 loss to Radford, led by Weakland’s 16 kills, in the Big South Tournament semifinals.
Jordyn Powell (Philipsburg-Osceola, Misericordia) finished her freshman season with a goal and an assist in 14 games. Misericordia lost 3-1 to the College of New Jersey in the NCAA Division II Tournament’s sweet 16 to finish 19-3-1.
