Edinboro and Bellefonte graduate Mitchell Port continue to set records in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference this year.
Over the weekend the Fighting Scots won their ninth PSAC team title in the past 10 years. They also became the first team to crown nine champions in the tournament, taking the first nine weight classes and winning 35 of their 36 bouts.
Port, ranked second in the country at 141 pounds, became one of three four-time PSAC titlists for the Scots as he posted a pair of falls and a major decision to raise his record to 13-0.
Also winning their fourth PSAC titles were former Tyrone standout AJ Schopp at 133, where he’s ranked No. 1 in the country, and David Habat at 149.
Jake Taylor (Bald Eagle Area, Cornell) made his collegiate debut at the Asics Northeast Duals, where he went 2-1 at 174 pounds.
Liz Wortman (Bellefonte, Juniata) is averaging 2.3 points, 1.1 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 0.1 steals. Juniata is 1-6.
Dennis Fisher (BEA, Juniata) is averaging 2.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocked shots. Juniata is 4-3.
Brittany Butterworth (BEA, Pitt-Greensburg) averages 4.9 points per game. She has 12 rebounds, 13 assists, nine steals and a block. Pitt-Greensburg is 3-4.
Jenna Altomare (State College, Kutztown) has a 3.8 scoring average, five rebounds, two assists and three steals. Kutztown is 3-3.
Mary Pillot (BEA, PSU-DuBois) scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers, in an 83-49 win over Butler County last week and followed with 19 points, including three 3-pointers, in a win over Penn State York. PSU-DuBois is 3-4.
Kaitlin Miller (BEA, PSU-Fayette) led her team with 12 points and 11 rebounds in an 83-59 loss to Penn State-Beaver. She is averaging 9.0 points and team-leading 8.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game. PSU-Fayette is 3-6.
Alexis Frank (Bellefonte, PSU-Altoona) has two rebounds, two steals and six points for PSU-Altoona, which is 1-6.
Kyle Kanaskie (State College, Truman State) is averaging 8.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per game with 11 3-pointers with 22 assists and 11 steals. Truman State is 5-2.
Bryan Sekunda (State College, Stony Brook) has nine rebounds, seven assists, a steal, two blocks and a 4.5 scoring average. Stony Brook is 5-4.
Taylor Allison (State College, St. Francis) has a 1.8 scoring average, five rebounds and five assists. St. Francis is 0-6.
Marie Ginger (State College, Gettysburg) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Gettysburg Invitational with a time of 1 minute, 9.35 seconds.
Ian Schrock (State College, Gettysburg) won the 100 backstroke in 53.29, was fourth in the 200 butterfly in 1:58.18, eighth in the 100 fly in 53.22, and had a hand in four top-three results for relays with second-place finishes for the 400 free (3:11.86) and 200 free (1:26.48) and third for the 200 medley (1:36.12) and 400 medley (3:33.67).
Gwen Lowery (Bellefonte, PSU-Behrend) had a busy weekend at the Fredonia Invitational. She swam on the 400 freestyle relay team that placed sixth in 3:50.73, the 200 freestyle relay team that was sixth in 1:43.67, the 400 medley relay team that was sixth in 4:19.30 and was fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.63.
Alex Kenney (State College, Massachusetts) finished the final season of his career with two carries for 22 yards, caught nine passes for 190 yards and a touchdown and returned five kickoffs for 111 yards. UMass finished 3-9.
Suzanne Horner (State College, Iowa State) closed the season with 48 kills, 975 assists, 19 aces, 206 digs and 32 blocks. Iowa State wound up with a 19-9 record after losing 3-0 to No. 9 Illinois in the NCAA second round on Saturday.
