It was close, but Bellefonte Little League couldn’t get the win.
Bellefonte lost to Lehigh, 3-2, in the 9-10-year-old state tournament semifinal game on Saturday.
Lehigh was the only team on the board until the bottom of the sixth inning when Bellefonte’s Jacob Corman hit a two-run homer.
But it wasn’t enough; the team couldn’t produce any more runs in the inning.
Never miss a local story.
“We couldn’t hit where their kids weren’t,” Bellefonte coach Scott Irwin said.
He said by the time the team finally got some runs, it was too late.
Bellefonte ended up finishing third in the state, and Lehigh will move on to the state title game against Ridley.
“We’re really proud of our kids,” Irwin said.
The team had an 11-2 record through districts, sectionals and states, he added.
