Women’s lacrosse All-American Steph Lazo and national champion wrestler Zain Retherford have been named Penn State’s Student-Athletes of the Year.
Lazo guided the Nittany Lions to their second straight NCAA semifinal appearance, while recording the ninth-most points (89) in school history. Retherford, a three-time All-American, has won 63 straight bouts and is a two-time NCAA champ.
This is Retherford’s second consecutive PSU Male Athlete of the Year honor, making him just the seventh Nittany Lion to ever win the award more than once. It’s also the sixth straight season that a Penn State wrestler has earned the honor.

2 named to Team USA
ANAHEIM, Calif. A pair of former Penn State standouts — setter Micha Hancock and outside hitter Megan Courtney — have been named to the U.S. Women’s National Team for the Pan American Cup women’s volleyball tournament.
They will both be a part of the Pan Am Cup for a second time. Both were on the U.S. team last summer, helping the team to a bronze medal. The roster is filled with players inexperienced internationally as the program begins rebuilding after a number of retirements from the 2016 Olympic team.
