Long’s name has been removed from the official roster. The fall semester begins Monday.
Long faces charges of attempted rape, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault for allegedly assaulting a 55-year-old mother of a Penn State student. Long waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday. The assault allegedly occurred early Aug. 12.
Penn State spokesman Pat Donghia confirmed Long’s status to the Centre Daily Times on Friday. Donghia declined further comment on the matter unless or until Long's status changes. Donghia also said coach Cael Sanderson has no further comment on Long’s status.
