CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Penn State scored 10 second-half goals to rally past Virginia 15-14 Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 8-5 at halftime, the No. 10 Nittany Lions (3-1) rolled off six straight goals, then gave up four in a row, the responded with their own run of four straight for a 15-12 lead. The No. 6 Cavaliers fought back to within one, but a foul on the ensuing draw gave Penn State the ball to run out the clock and lock up the win.
Mackenzie Cyr posted three goals and an assist for Penn State, Tatum Coffey netted three goals, Kelly Lechner had two goals and two assists, and Molly Fernandez, Haley Ford and Jenna Mosketti each added two goals. Maggie McCormick had a goal and three assists and Ford also helped out on a goal.
Dana Boyle and Ashlee Warner each netted three goals for the Cavaliers (2-3), who outshot Penn State 36-30.
