FULLERTON, Calif. Penn State was held to one hit in an 8-0 loss to No. 1 Oklahoma on Sunday to close the Judi Garman Classic.
The Sooners (26-1) scored all their runs in the first two innings, with Jessica Shults belting a solo home run to highlight Oklahoma’s eight hits and nine walks off Nittany Lion pitching. Christy Von Pusch took the loss, not recording an out while walking all three batters she faced and unloading two wild pitches, with relief help from Rachel Myers.
Cassidy Bell managed to collect the only Penn State hit, a first-inning single, off winner Michelle Gascoigne (11-1), who struck out 11, walked one and hit a batter in the five-inning game.
On Saturday night, the Nittany Lions defeated DePaul 7-6 and fell to No. 16 Washington 13-2.

In the win over the Blue Demons, Bell was 2-for-4 with a double, Taylor Abeyta was 2-for-3 with a double, and Macy Jones and Reina Furuya also had doubles. Jones pitched a complete-game win, striking out four.
Bell singled and clocked a two-run home run to account for all the scoring while Jones also had two hits and Furuya doubled in the loss to the Huskies. Von Pusch again took the loss, giving up seven Washington runs over two-plus innings, with Myers again pitching in relief.
Penn State (7-16) begins Big Ten play at Michigan State on Friday.
