Penn State guard Alex Bentley was been named the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week, sharing the honor with Nebraska’s Jordan Hooper, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Bentley earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career. She was the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week on Jan. 18, 2010.
Bentley had a stellar week for the Lady Lions, averaging 22.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a pair of wins over Indiana and Michigan State. Sunday’s win over the Spartans clinched Penn State’s 25th 20-win season in program history and the third-straight 20-win season for the No. 8 Lady Lions (20-3 overall, 10-1 Big Ten).
With the four steals against Michigan State, Bentley became just the fourth player in Big Ten history to amass 1,500 points, 500 assists and 300 steals.
