Penn senior guard Alex Bentleyis among the 12 prospects invited to the 2013 WNBA Draft on April 15 in Bristol, Conn.
In addition to Bentley, Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne, Notre Dame’s Skylar Diggins, Baylor’s Brittney Griner, California’s Layshia Clarendon, Connecticut’s Kelly Faris, Ohio State’s Tayler Hill, Nebraska’s Lindsey Moore, Georgetown’s Sugar Rodgers, Maryland’s Tianna Hawkins, Oklahoma State’s Toni Young and Texas A&M’s Kelsey Bone were also invited to attend the 2013 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm, which will be held at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn.
Bentley had a stellar senior season, earning honorable mention All-America honors from the Associated Press and the WBCA after averaging 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. The three-time All-Big Ten first team choice and two-time Big Ten All-Defensive team selection led the Big Ten and is sixth nationally in steals per game at a 3.4 clip. Bentley was selected as the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award winner for the nation’s outstanding female collegian 5-8 and under, joining Suzie McConnell and Helen Darling as the award winners for the Lady Lions.
