The Penn State men’s basketball team will continue its season in the College Basketball Invitational.
The Nittany Lions will host Hampton at the Bryce Jordan Center in the first round Wednesday. The game time will be announced Monday, according to a Penn State press release Sunday night. The winner will advance to take on Stony Brook or Siena in the quarterfinals Monday, March 24.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity to play in the CBI,” Penn State coach Patrick Chambers said in the release. “The team is grateful for a chance to continue practicing together and ultimately having a chance to compete for a championship.”
The CBI is a 16-team, single-elimination tournament that ends in a best-of-three championship series. The semifinals are set for Wednesday, March 26, and the championship series is scheduled to start Monday, March 31.

CBS Sports Network will televise two quarterfinal-round games and the championship series of the seventh CBI.
Penn State fell to 15-17 after losing to Minnesota in the first round of the Big Ten tournament last Thursday. The Nittany Lions went 6-7 down the stretch and have lost three of their last four games.
Hampton enters the tournament with an 18-12 record. The Pirates finished the season second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference after going 13-3. Hampton lost to Coppin State in the MEAC quarterfinals, snapping a seven-game winning streak.
Purdue was the first Big Ten team to play in the CBI last season. The Boilermakers lost to eventual champion Santa Clara in the quarterfinals. Tulsa, Oregon State, VCU, Oregon and Pittsburgh have each won the tournament.
