Each week the CDT will report how the recruits who have given Penn State a verbal commitment performed during their football games the previous weekend. The information is gathered from newspaper accounts of those games or from the player's high school.
Christian Hackenberg, (QB, 6-4, 210) completed 21 of 29 pass attempts for 342 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in a 39-30 win for Fork Union (Va.) over Benedictine (Va.). Hackenberg threw touchdown passes of 63, 8 and 48 yards.
Garrett Sickles, (DE, 6-4, 240) helped Red Bank Regional (N.J.) blank Freehold Boro (N.J.) 21-0 with a dominant performance along the defensive line. Sickles and the rest of the Red Bank defense held Freehold Boro to just 67 rushing yards on 26 tries.
Brendan Mahon, (OL, 6-5, 305) threw blocks for Randolph (N.J.) in a back-and-forth affair with Parsippany Hills (N.J.). Randolph forced overtime with a short touchdown run but ultimately lost in overtime 27-21.
Curtis Cothran, (DE, 6-5, 230) and the rest of the Council Rock North Indians beat Harry S. Truman 49-22 for a homecoming victory. Cothran's statistics were not reported.
Andrew Nelson, (OL, 6-5, 265) helped lead the way for the Hershey ground attack to rack up 168 rushing yards on 39 carries in a 47-28 win over Red Land.
Neiko Robinson, (S, 5-11, 170) found the end zone twice with receiving touchdowns in a 40-0 Northview (Fla.) win over Vernon (Fla.).
Jordan Smith, (DB, 5-11, 180) helped H.D. Woodson (Washington) to a 38-12 win over Ballou. H.D. Woodson's fifth straight win came when Smith and the rest of Woodson's defensive backs held Ballou to just seven completions for 50 yards.
Tanner Hartman (DE, 6-4, 255) helped Liberty Christian (Va.) dominate Blue Ridge (Va.) 54-0. Hartman and the rest of the Liberty Christian defense forced three interceptions and held Blue Ridge to just 117 total offensive yards.
