Thanks to four second-period goals, Penn State locked up a 6-4 victory at Colgate on Friday night.
Laura Bowman and Hannah Hoenshell netted two goals each, with Hoenshell adding an assist, and Amy Petersen added a goal and an assist to lead the Nittany Lion (4-4-3). Shannon Yoxheimer scored the other goal and added an assist for Penn State, and Celine Whitlinger made 32 saves for the win. Caitlin Reilly, Jordin Pardoski and Remi Martin also had assists.
The four scores over a seven-minute stretch of the second put the game squarely in Penn State’s hands, with the goals from Hoenshel, Petersen, Bowman and Yoxheimer.
Melissa Kueber, Breanne Wilson-Bennett, Ellie Decaprio and Annika Zalewski scored goals for the Raiders (2-6), who outshot the Lions 36-26.
The teams battle again at 4 p.m. Saturday at Starr Rink.
